Why “Emmy’s List”?

The list is named for Emily, who inspired it. She was always looking for a single place to find what’s nearby for a family, from care to activities to everyday help, and this directory is the one she kept wishing existed.

How the list works

Our area is a 30-mile, straight-line radius from downtown Edwardsville, centered near the Madison County Courthouse. That includes communities in Illinois and Missouri. A place’s driving distance may be longer.

Listings start with information from official business sources. Each entry includes a source and the date its details were checked. Hours, availability and services can change, so confirm the details directly.

Recommended results use approximate distance for everyday services. For healthcare, providers reported as accepting new patients come first, followed by unknown and not accepting, with distance breaking ties. You can also choose distance or alphabetical order. Service-area businesses follow physical locations in distance order.

New-patient statements include a source and check date, and distinguish a practice-wide statement from an individual clinician’s availability. Statements older than 90 days return to unknown until checked again. Confirm your clinician, insurance and appointment availability directly.

Reviews stay with their original source. We provide links so you can read them in context. Emmy’s List doesn’t accept visitor ratings or reviews.

Sponsorships can support a useful local directory. Paid placements will always be marked “Sponsored” and appear separately from the regular results. Paying for placement doesn’t change a business’s organic order.
