Who runs this site
Emmy’s List is a FerroThread service, an independent local directory operated by FerroThread Holdings, LLC. Questions about this policy or your information can go to emmyslist@proton.me.
What we count
Searches, category choices, whether a search found results, and clicks on listing details, websites, phone links and review sources. Sponsored placements can also count appearances and clicks.
Search reporting keeps only words from our known service and business vocabulary. Other text, including apparent email addresses or phone numbers, is grouped as “other search.” We don’t keep arbitrary free-text searches in analytics.
Legal searches are grouped into known service topics, such as custody or estate planning. Other legal search text, including personal case descriptions, is grouped as “other search.”
These are daily aggregate counts. We don’t store visitor IP addresses, assign analytics visitor IDs or create browsing profiles. Counts can include repeat actions and aren’t a count of unique people.
Your choices
We respect browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals by skipping analytics collection. Daily analytics counts are removed after 90 days as new activity is recorded.
Your color-theme choice is stored in your browser. Editor sign-in uses a secure session cookie; browsing the public directory doesn’t require an account.
Distance from your address
As you type an address and pause, street text is sent to Photon for suggestions. When you select a suggestion, the full address is sent to the US Census Bureau for verification. Both services’ privacy practices apply to those lookups. We use the returned location to calculate straight-line distances to directory listings.
Your selected address and coordinates are stored only in a session cookie, with no expiry date or persistent visitor ID. We do not save address lookups in our database, application logs, analytics or browser local storage. Browser session-restore settings may preserve session cookies. Choose “Use downtown Edwardsville” to remove the cookie at any time.
The directory’s coverage remains 30 miles from downtown Edwardsville. Changing your origin changes displayed distances and distance sorting, not which businesses qualify for the directory.
Questions about your data
We don’t keep accounts, IP addresses or visitor IDs, so there is normally no personal profile to look up. To ask what we hold, request a correction or deletion, or report a concern, email emmyslist@proton.me. If you write to us, we use your message only to reply.
Children’s privacy
The directory is meant for parents and caregivers, not for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Other websites
Business and review links take you to independent websites with their own privacy practices. The directory is designed for parents and caregivers; please avoid entering personal or medical details into search.
Hosting infrastructure processes requests to deliver the site. Direct local sponsorships use first-party daily counters rather than third-party advertising trackers; if optional contextual display ads are enabled, they are requested with child-directed, non-personalized family-safe settings.
